Silicon Valley Odyssey of the Mind Newsletter

Welcome to the 2018-2019 Odyssey Season!

September 11, 2018

Greetings to all who are interested in participating in the Silicon Valley Region of Odyssey of the Mind this year!

Announcing Big Changes in California Odyssey!

As of August 1, 2018, California Odyssey of the Mind has split into two separate organizations, NorCal and SoCal. This will not mean any changes for us in our Region, but top teams will advance to the NorCal Tournament, consisting of just 6 regions and always to be held in northern California. Top teams there will advance to World Finals next May. It is an opportunity for more teams to have the experience of going to World Finals. To learn more about the new NorCal Association please check out the new NorCal Odyssey of the Mind website, with links to all of the new NorCal social media sites, please "like" and follow the ones that you participate in.

Coach Training

Every Odyssey of the Mind team must have at least one trained adult coach (18 years of age or older). Assistant coaches may also attend training. Please limit to 2 coaches per team attending training.

All coaches - new and experienced - must attend training every year or your team cannot participate in the Regional tournament.  New coaches need to attend one of the all day Saturday training sessions (8:30 – 3:30). Experienced coaches need only attend a Saturday training session in the afternoon (12:30 – 3:30) There is no charge for training and a continental breakfast and lunch is provided. Please register for training promptly once registration opens so that we can plan food and supplies accordingly.

For more info on becoming a coach click here.

Simple, just attend a coaches training to learn more about the program. Then if you decide you do want to coach you will be trained and ready to go! Even if you don't have a team established yet you can attend training in anticipation of getting a team together. All it will cost you is one Saturday of your time.
